Hot Dog Salad

There is nothing more American than July 4th. There is no better way to celebrate the 4th but with hot dogs. This simple recipe will leave your guests in a state of awe.

What you will need:

1 Package of pre-cooked hot dogs

1 Bottle of Ketchup

1 Bottle of Mustard

1 Jar of Mayonnaise (16 ounces)

1 Package of American Cheese (64 slices of Kraft Singles)

1 Pack of dried hot dog buns

We use the pre-cooked hot dogs here for simplicity. You could just as easily purchase the non-cooked variety, cook them, and use those.

To begin:

Cut up the hot dogs into bite size pieces. Empty the bottle of ketchup, the bottle of mustard, and the jar of mayonnaise into a large salad bowl.

Now this is key so pay attention: Toss in the hot dog pieces and stir ever so slightly. You want the ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise to swirl. If you over mix, you will get a pale orange paste and that would be disgusting.

Set the bowl in the ice-box and chill while you get your 64 slices of American cheese. Stack them in 8 piles of 8. Cut each pile in half with a cleaver, then, rotating 90 degrees, cut in half again.

Sprinkle liberally over the top of the salad and enjoy.

Crumble the dried hot dog buns on top for an added crunch. If you really want to impress your guests, you could run the dry buns through a cheese grater or microplane.

I have never actually tried this. To be honest, I made it up and it sounds disgusting.
